Fortinet Engineer
Location: Brooklyn, NY 11201
Duration: 6–12 Months
Work Arrangement: On-Site
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM
Hours: Up to 8 hours per day
Position Overview
We are seeking a Fortinet Engineer to provide on-site technical support for security infrastructure operations, configuration, troubleshooting, upgrades, and network integration activities.
The engineer will work closely with technical teams and customer stakeholders to support the Fortinet environment, troubleshoot incidents, assist with migrations and implementations, and provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide certified Fortinet engineering support at the customer site.
- Support ongoing security infrastructure operations, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
- Troubleshoot network and security issues and serve as a local incident point of contact.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation for open Technical Assistance Center (TAC) cases.
- Develop and maintain diagnostic procedures and Fortinet best-practice documentation.
- Prepare, review, and validate Fortinet configurations.
- Develop procedures and technical requirements for Fortinet product upgrades.
- Conduct network and security testing within the customer environment.
- Support implementation, integration, and migration planning.
- Provide ongoing knowledge transfer and technical guidance to customer teams.
- Track hardware and software revisions across the environment.
- Develop feature and functionality test plans.
- Assist with maintaining and updating network diagrams.
- Participate in relevant customer meetings and training sessions to gain familiarity with the customer environment.
Role & Collaboration Resident Fortinet Engineer
- Serve as the on-site technical resource responsible for the engineering and support activities outlined above.
- Coordinate directly with customer technical teams and stakeholders.
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting, configuration, testing, and deployment support.
Professional Services Manager
- Serve as the technical escalation point and coordinate professional services activities.
- Provide guidance and support for escalated technical matters.
Customer Point of Contact
- Coordinate day-to-day activities and issues.
- Provide the engineer with necessary direction, information, and access to the customer environment.
Work Schedule
- On-site position at the designated customer location.
- Up to 8 hours per day .
- Normal working hours are 9:00 AM–5:00 PM .
- 5-day work week, Monday through Friday.
- Weekends and public holidays are excluded.
- Out-of-hours work requires advance agreement and approval from the Professional Services Manager.
- Approved out-of-hours work will result in a corresponding reduction in hours during the subsequent working week.
Customer Environment & Support Requirements
- Customer will designate a primary point of contact for the engineer.
- Customer will provide a suitable on-site workspace.
- Secure connectivity to applicable Fortinet systems must be provided.
- Customer will provide required Internet or equivalent connectivity, secure power, adequate workspace, and appropriate environmental conditions.
- Customer will communicate applicable security, health, and safety requirements.
- Customer will assist with visas or certifications where applicable.
- Customer remains responsible for its own network and production configuration control.
- Relevant Fortinet appliances must have an active FortiCare Service Contract to enable support ticket creation and access to applicable software upgrades.
- Resident Engineer support generally applies to generally available Fortinet products and software releases unless otherwise agreed.
Equipment & Travel
- The engineer will be provided with a mobile phone and laptop for assigned work.
- The customer will provide the engineer's desk or office space.
- Travel expenses for locations outside the designated work location will be the responsibility of the customer.
